Callaway RAZR X Black Driver

cheaphotgolf 2012-02-02

The Callaway RAZR X Black driver has a black PVD finish and a crown of Forged Composite, the lightweight material developed by Callaway in partnership with automaker Lamborghini.

Something Callaway calls "SpeedFrame Face Technology" creates, the company says, a larger sweetspot and higher ball speeds across the clubface, which itself is made of titanium.

An aerodynamic design of the clubhead means the RAZR X Black driver creates 17-percent less drag in the downswing compared to Callaway's Diablo Octane Tour driver, and less drag can help golfers boost swing speed.

Callaway's senior VP of R&D, Alan Hocknell, succintly describes the target audience for the RAZR X Black driver thusly: "The RAZR X Black Driver is designed for the golfer who is hell-bent on ball speed."

The RAZR X Black driver reaches retail outlets on March 16, 2012, with a retail price of $249. The 8.5- and 9.5-lofted models will have a face angle 1-degree open; the 10.5-lofted driver is square; and the 11.5 model is 1-degree closed. Stock shaft is the Fujikura Motore F8.
